Touryuken Noodles & Dining Bar

東龍軒 日本橋箱崎店

The light, clean-tasting tonkotsu ramen is the starting point, alongside miso ramen, tantanmen and tsukemen. Choose how to round out the meal, perhaps with a set featuring a mini rice bowl topped with meltingly tender pork cartilage.

01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

The house ramen at Touryuken Noodles & Dining Bar is a light tonkotsu, or pork-bone broth, with no strong odour. Diners have praised its creamy flavour without excessive heaviness, and the way the relatively thin noodles come together with the soup. Some have gone back for an extra serving of noodles. For a taste of tonkotsu that still feels light, this is a good place to start.

To make the meal more substantial, consider the mini pork-cartilage rice bowl set, available to guests ordering a noodle dish. It pairs white rice generously topped with meltingly tender cartilage. One diner found that the softly braised meat and sauce-soaked rice worked particularly well with ramen. Order noodles on their own when you want them to take centre stage, or add the bowl for a heartier meal.

There is more than one direction to take with the noodles. The menu includes Tou-Ryu miso ramen served with ginger, tantanmen, rich seafood tsukemen and chuka soba. A diner who tried the chuka soba described it as delicious and on the lighter side, making it an option for a change from tonkotsu.

For dinner, there are also the night-only Tou-Ryu gyoza and fragrant stir-fried liver with Chinese chives. The choices range from a lunchtime bowl of ramen with an added rice dish to an evening meal with a side to enjoy alongside beer.
